Were Do I Place My Hope

One of the things that we are focused on in our crisis is to make sure our hope is anchored in the right place. The Psalmist says, “And now Lord what do I wait for? My hope is in You.” (Psalm 39:7) “For you are my hope O Lord God.” (Psalm 71:5) “I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your word.” (Psalm 119: 147)

Our hope right now in our family is that the Lord will show up and touch us with healing. Our hope is that the Lord will visit us and teach us and guide us with the promises of His Word.

One of the risks here in our culture is that we will put our hope in science or the medical establishment. We are constantly given the message through the media that our medical establishment as we know it in America is our best hope. People actually think that our only hope is if our scientists, through genetics, stem cell research or finding a new drug will eventually solve our health problems. We think our only hope is to just do whatever the doctor tells us.

Don’t get me wrong much good has been accomplished by medical science especially in the area of trauma care. In other areas however powerful lobbies which are money driven are controlling what medical care can and cannot do in this country. We cannot put much hope in a system like this.

The Lord has promised, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will guide you with my eye.” (Psalm 32:8). Our hope is that the Lord will do this as He promised. If we are open to learn about our bodies and how they work He is faithful to teach us and guide us in how to best care for them.
